Why and What Do I Paint?

My work is rooted in Alberta and Canadian landscapes, but I’m equally inspired by the connection between the arts and the audiences who gather to experience them. Over the years, I’ve created several series—Layered Landscapes, Comfort of Community, Music Themes, For Love of the Arts, Rearview Mirror, Aerial Views, and Figurative Works—each shaped by the endless places and moments that continue to move me.

Every location I paint is one I’ve experienced. These places hold meaning because they were shared with people important to me or inspired by them. Through them, I explore the feeling and presence of a moment—the comfort, joy, sadness, or awe that a place can hold, depending on where you are in your own journey.

I paint because it feels natural and because I love it. The act of experiencing a place, then translating it into a visual story for others to see, feel, and interpret in their own way, is what keeps me creating. I paint for those moments, and simply to express.

I warmly invite you to explore my art—and I would love to hear about your own experiences and memories connected to the places I paint.
