Some of the most beautiful Alberta skies seem to find me when I am simply on my way home.
Beyond the Storm was inspired by the drive back to Edmonton after a baseball tournament in Olds. The prairie stretched out around us while enormous clouds filled the sky, shifting between darkness and light as the sun found its way through.
I wanted to capture that contrast—the weight of the storm against the softness and colour beyond it, and the bright green fields continuing underneath it all.
For me, Beyond the Storm became about more than that particular drive. Storms pass. Light returns. Sometimes we have to keep moving through the difficult parts before we can see what is waiting on the other side.
At 24 × 36 inches, this original acrylic painting is a celebration of our incredible Alberta skies, but also of hope, resilience, and continuing to look toward what lies beyond the storm.
