Maligne Canyon is a place filled with memories for me. I have returned to it again and again over the years, walking the same trails, crossing the bridges, and watching the water continue to shape the landscape below.

Where the Water Remembers was inspired by those cherished memories and by how differently I think about this place now. Landscapes change. Time passes. Yet somehow, when we return—or even when we simply remember—we can still feel all the moments that came before.

I love the idea that the water remembers too. It continues to move through the canyon, carving and changing the rock, carrying the story of this place forward.

For me, this painting is about more than Maligne Canyon. It is about the way places hold our memories and how those memories become part of our connection to them.

Where the Water Remembers is a celebration of a place I deeply love—forever shaped by water, time, change, and all the memories it holds.
