Lost in the music - 14 inch Round - Needle Felting - Original

There is something about driving an open Alberta road with music playing that makes everything else disappear for a little while.

Lost in the Music was inspired by a view through the side mirror, with the prairie landscape stretching out behind me. I love these fleeting views from the road—the fields, enormous sky, and landscape passing by while a favourite song becomes part of the moment.

I created this piece using Dorset wool, layering and felting the fibres to build colour, texture, and movement. I love how the softness of the wool changes the feeling of the landscape and gives the piece a warmth that is completely different from paint.

For me, Lost in the Music is about those moments when the right song, the open road, and the landscape around you come together and you simply let yourself be there.
