There are places where you can’t help but feel the power of nature. Athabasca Falls is one of those places for me.
Feeling Powerful was inspired by a summer visit to Athabasca Falls in Jasper. I wanted to capture the incredible energy of the water—the way it rushes and crashes through the rock, filling the air with sound and mist while the mountains and forest surround you.
I used expressive brushstrokes, vibrant colour, and movement to capture how it felt to stand there rather than simply recreate the falls exactly as they appeared.
For me, the title Feeling Powerful speaks to both the landscape and the feeling it gives me. Standing beside something so powerful can make you feel incredibly small, but somehow it can also remind you of your own strength.
