There is something I love about sitting in an audience just before a performance begins.

This painting was inspired by Edmonton’s Winspear Centre and the people who gather there to experience the arts. I was drawn to the audience itself—the faces, conversations, anticipation, and energy that fill the room while everyone waits for the performance to begin.

For me, the audience is an important part of live art. We arrive as individuals, but for a few hours we experience something together. We listen, watch, react, and become part of the atmosphere in the room.

I wanted to capture that feeling through vibrant colour, expressive linework, and the many individual people who together become one audience.

This piece is a celebration of the Winspear, Edmonton’s incredible arts community, and the connections we create when we gather together to experience something beautiful.
