Sometimes we don't know exactly where we're going. We just know we have to keep moving forward.
What Lies Ahead is a small encaustic piece filled with colour, texture, pattern, and layers. The shoes point forward, ready for whatever comes next, while the marks and fragments surrounding them suggest all the pieces of life we carry along with us.
I love working with encaustic because each layer becomes part of the story. Some things remain visible, others are partially covered, but they are all still there beneath the surface.
For me, What Lies Ahead is about possibility. We can't always see what is coming next, and maybe we aren't supposed to. Sometimes we simply have to put our feet forward and find out.
This 5 × 5 inch original encaustic painting comes framed and ready to hang—a small piece with a hopeful reminder to keep going.
This piece was part of my original Where I Stand series.
