Into the Great Wide Open was inspired by an aerial perspective, where the landscape below begins to become a collection of lines, shapes, patterns, and colour. Roads, fields, waterways, and boundaries start to feel almost abstract, while still holding the story of the land beneath them.
I used vibrant colour and expressive linework to create movement throughout this piece, allowing the landscape to be felt rather than defining exactly what or where everything is.
For me, Into the Great Wide Open is about freedom, possibility, and looking at the world from a different perspective. I want the viewer to wander through it, find their own places within it, and take from it whatever they need.
