Stories of the Land was inspired by the view from above, looking down at the landscape as I flew home to Edmonton from Europe.
I love the way the land changes when we see it from the air. Fields, roads, rivers, and communities become shapes, lines, and patterns—almost like an abstract painting already waiting to be discovered. I used bold colour and expressive brushwork to capture that perspective and the feeling of watching the world pass beneath me.
For me, this piece is also about the journey home. No matter how far we travel, there is something special about looking down and knowing you are getting closer to the place you belong.
