There is beauty in flowers long after they have stopped being perfect.
This piece was inspired by flowers that have faded over time—the petals changing, stems bending, and colours becoming quieter, but still holding onto something beautiful.
I used layers of texture and expressive linework to capture that imperfect, lived-in quality. For me, the flowers became a little like our memories and experiences. They change with time, but that doesn't make them less meaningful.
There is something I love about the idea of things being lived and loved rather than remaining untouched.
This original encaustic painting celebrates that kind of beauty—the marks left behind, the passing of time, and the idea that something doesn't need to be new or perfect to still be beautiful.
