Sometimes the places closest to home hold just as much meaning as the places we travel to.
When We Are Together was painted in 2020 and inspired by a moment in Edmonton’s Holyrood neighbourhood. I was drawn to the familiar streets, trees, homes, and the quiet beauty of an ordinary neighbourhood scene.
The title feels especially meaningful knowing when this piece was created. In 2020, being together took on a different meaning. Our neighbourhoods, walks, homes, and the people closest to us became an even bigger part of our worlds.
For me, this painting is about finding beauty close to home and recognizing that sometimes the place itself isn't what makes a memory important—it is simply when we are together.
When We Are Together is an 18 × 24 inch original acrylic painting on canvas, created in 2020 and inspired by Edmonton.
