Maligne Canyon is a place filled with memories for me. After so many visits, certain parts of the trail feel wonderfully familiar, while somehow still giving me something new to notice each time.
You’re With Me Everywhere I Go was inspired by hiking from the Sixth Bridge toward the First Bridge, surrounded by the trees, rugged canyon walls, rushing water, and all the beautiful details along the way.
For me, though, this painting is about more than the trail. The title is about the people we carry with us. Sometimes a place becomes connected so strongly to someone that even when they aren't beside us, they are still part of the experience and the memory.
I wanted this painting to hold both—the beauty and adventure of hiking through Maligne Canyon and the feeling of carrying someone with you wherever you go.
