The Sea of Red captures the powerful sight of thousands of Alberta teachers gathered at the Legislative Grounds in Edmonton on October 5th, 2025 — a moment of unity, courage, and advocacy. Seen from above, the crowd becomes a sweeping current of red, flowing toward the steps of the Legislature — a visual symbol of strength in numbers and collective purpose.
As both a teacher and an artist, I painted this piece not just to document the rally, but to honour the spirit behind it — the belief that education deserves respect, and that those who stand for it do so with heart. The golden autumn trees and the deep red of the crowd merge into a powerful Alberta landscape — one grounded in care, community, and resolve.
