I watched as the Suzuki students took the stage at the Winspear Centre — small bodies holding instruments with focus, courage, and quiet pride. There was a tenderness in the room: the collective breath of parents, teachers, and listeners willing them forward, note by note.

This painting is part of my For the Love of the Arts series, which celebrates live performance and the moments where art is learned, practiced, and bravely shared. I was drawn to the contrast between the grandness of the Winspear and the vulnerability of young musicians performing with such sincerity.

As both an artist and an educator, these moments stay with me. They speak to growth, discipline, and the lifelong impact of arts education — the beginning of a relationship with music that extends far beyond the stage.

This piece will be part of a gallery show between April and June. Prints and art cards will be available.
