Maligne Canyon is a place I have returned to many times, and somehow there is always something new to notice.
This painting was inspired by the view from the Third Bridge, looking into the incredible depth of the canyon. I love the contrast between the rugged rock, rushing water, and the forest growing around it. It is one of those places where you can't help but stop for a while and take it all in.
For me, Maligne Canyon holds so many memories of time spent in Jasper. I have walked these trails again and again, and each visit has become part of my own connection to this place.
I painted this variation with vibrant colour and expressive brushwork, wanting to capture not every detail, but the feeling of standing there and looking down into the canyon.
